This group has three main areas:

• ensuring learning provision is assessed and enhanced by working in partnership with QAA Scotland, HMIe (now Education Scotland), colleges, universities and students on an enhancement-led approach to quality. We also support student engagement and participation in quality, working in particular with NUS Scotland and sparqs, and we promote good practice in sustainability and the sustainable use of resources and support the UN Decade of Education for Sustainable Development;
• responsibility for meeting the Council's objectives in supporting the development of governance, leadership and management in colleges and universities, including their ongoing sustainability, and maintaining relationships with sector support agencies; and
• corporate governance, legal compliance and data and information security, risk management, management of Council business and co-ordination with Council committees.
