The British Sign Language (Scotland) Act 2015 requires colleges and universities in Scotland to publish BSL plans every six years, aligning with the British Sign Language (BSL): National Plan 2017 to 2023.
Institutions are required to show how they will promote and support British Sign Language (BSL) and how they will make improvements where necessary).
SFC annually reviews institutions' BSL plans, which link with college and university outcome agreements.
