Silver surfers join Ayr College

Married couple Marjorie and Harry Richardson are proving that it's never too late to learn new skills having enrolled on an Ayr College course together at the age of 90, making them the college's oldest students.

Marjorie and Harry are taking a Computing course to develop their skills so that they can keep in touch with their son, who lives in Malaysia, and they can now use email and Skype, as well as upload and send family photos. They have also completed units in Microsoft Publisher, Powerpoint, Word, and Photoshop.

Harry said: "I know there will come a time when we are not so fit and have to stay in our house more, so it will be good to have computing skills and still be able to communicate with the outside world. Some older people might think college is just for youngsters and they would feel out of place here, but our class is full of retired people."
