7 July 2017

SFC Chair, Professor Alice Brown, was given a Lifetime Achievement Award at last night’s Herald Awards Ceremony in Glasgow.

SFC Chair, Professor Alice Brown, was given a Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2017 Herald Awards Ceremony in Glasgow.

Presenting Alice with the award, City of Glasgow College Principal, Paul Little, spoke of her journey as a mature student through college, to university and then to her first teaching position at the University of Edinburgh where she eventually became Vice Principal. Alice’s contribution to higher education in Scotland has continued through her work at the Royal Society of Edinburgh and, since 2013, as chair of the Scottish Funding Council.

This is the third year of the Herald HE Awards. In 2015 the Lifetime Achievement Award was presented to SFC board member Maggie Kinloch for her work in widening access to the arts. Last year’s accolade went to John Norman Macleod of Sabhal Mòr Ostaig.
