Efficient government programme 2008-09 to 2010-11
On 14 November 2007, Scottish Ministers announced the outcome of the 2007 Spending Review and confirmed the Scottish target to deliver two per cent annual cash-releasing efficiencies amounting to £1.6 billion by 2010-11.
Following the announcement, the Scottish Government issued initial guidance on the next phase of the efficient government programme (EGP) for 2008-09 to 2010-11, which sets out information on: responsibilities; efficiency definitions; monitoring; and reporting.

SFC issued a circular SFC/43/2008 to request information about each institution's contribution to the Scottish Government's efficient government objectives.
