South Lanarkshire College

Campus relocation

Previously spread over three buildings, two in East Kilbride and one in Cambuslang, South Lanarkshire College relocated to one campus in East Kilbride.

The new building caters for the College’s 5,500 learners and features a central atrium area over three floors, café bistro, resource centre and student advice centre.

The 15,000m2 building is designed to have a low carbon footprint and has a BREEAM (Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method) rating of “Very Good”. Computer-controlled lighting dims and switches off according to the natural light intensity and the building has high insulation. Facilities for cyclists and a bus stop within the campus encourage sustainable transport use.

The project began five years ago at a cost of £34.5 million, with SFC funding of £12.6 million, and was completed in February 2008.
