New Campus Glasgow
New Campus Glasgow is an ambitious project to create a new learning community at the heart of Scotland’s largest city.
Three colleges Central College, Glasgow College of Nautical Studies and Glasgow Metropolitan College - have been jointly developing plans for a shared campus where around 50,000 students will share an environment designed to inspire learning and support world-class teaching. In March 2009, the colleges also announced their intention to merge, creating one of the biggest colleges in the UK.
SFC has been involved in the campus project since its earliest stages. We have supported the development of the initial plans to the point where the colleges have now formed a joint company, New Campus Glasgow Limited, to produce a final business case and advance the procurement of the campus. The scale of the campus project, estimated to be the largest of its kind in the UK, dictates a long and detailed pre-construction phase. It is our intention to publish information relating to the funding of the project throughout this period and up until the point the project is completed.
