Horizon Fund for Universities
The Horizon Fund for Universities (HFU) was established in 2009 to support projects that would bring economic, social, cultural and other benefits to Scotland. Since then, the SFC has worked with Universities and other partners to deliver potentially groundbreaking, national and international outcomes in the following seven priority areas:
- Employability & skills;
- Access, inclusion & progression;
- Knowledge Exchange;
- Specialism & diversity;
- Collaboration;
- World-class research; and
- Effective Institutions.
The Letter of guidance issued by the Cabinet Secretary in November 2010 asked the SFC to repurpose Horizon Funds and "create a 'spend to save' fund which would support strategic change and enable the sector as a whole to deliver more for less". The SFC announced details of the new Invest to Save fund (circular SFC/03/2011: Invest to save funds: guidance) in February 2011.
The SFC is not currently seeking applications for HFU funding in AY 2010-11 and AY 2011-12.
