Universities
Knowledge Exchange in Scotland's Universities
The SFC supports and promotes the capacity of universities to engage in knowledge activity with business, public and third sector organisations through formula funding (the Knowledge Transfer Grant), funding for demand-led strategic and collaborative projects and smaller project funding for university and collaboration. The driver for this is the priorities of the Scottish Government.
Knowledge Transfer Grant
The Knowledge Transfer Grant (KTG) is allocated to universities through two mechanisms from the General and Horizon Fund.
Innovation Centres
We are inviting proposals from universities and their business partners for Innovation Centres (ICs) in support of the Scottish Government's economic strategy. This call will be managed by SFC in partnership with Scottish Enterprise and Highlands and Islands Enterprise. ICs will be collaborations among universities, businesses and others to enhance innovation in and across Scotland's key economic sectors. ICs will provide direct industry-academia links, foster entrepreneurship and serve as a focus for skills training at all levels. Full details are available from Circular SFC/06/2012.
Professor Paul Hagan, Director of the Research and Innovation group at SFC, gave a presentation to delegates at two briefing events hosted by HIE (26 April) and Scottish Enterprise (27 April). View the Presentation here.
Strategic demand-led, collaborative knowledge exchange projects
The SFC, through its Horizon Fund for Universities (HFU), supports strategic projects that are demand-led, collaborative and demonstrate the potential for impact for Scotland's economy and society.
Projects are either funded through applications to the Horizon Fund process or open calls for proposals (competitions). Please note that SFC is not currently seeking applications for HFU funding in academic year (AY) 2011-12.
