Learning for All
13 Nov 2015
Over 50 delegates attended SFC’s 2015 Learning for All Strategic Discussion.
The event took place on the same day the Commission on Widening Access published its initial findings.
The Commission’s Chair, Dame Ruth Silver, gave delegates a “reader’s guide” to the report which calls for universities to consider accepting poorer pupils with lower grades than middle class applicants to address “fundamental unfairness” in the system. In her presentation Dame Ruth called widening access “a social good, an economic good and an academic good”.
Dame Ruth also spoke about SFC, describing it as “a very peculiar funding council that funds adventures”.
The Commission’s Interim Report is now available online with the final report due out around March next year.
