First Minister rings in new campus

27 Oct 2015

City of Glasgow College’s Riverside Campus has been officially opened by First Minister Nicola Sturgeon.

The £66 million building is the first phase of the £228 million “supercampus”, with the college’s City Campus site due to open in summer 2016.

The First Minister rang a ship’s bell to officially declare the building open, before meeting staff and students on a tour of the campus with principal Paul Little and SFC chair Alice Brown.

The Riverside Campus houses the new marine skills centre, which includes the UK’s first 360-degree ship simulator. The campus is expected to host around 10,000 students each year, part of the 40,000 expected when the supercampus is completed.
