A record number of undergraduates are bidding to take part in an internship programme which will see students sent all over the world next year to learn from top business brains.
Entrepreneurial Scotland has received a record 1,242 applications for its 2018 Saltire Scholar Internship Programme – the highest number in the ten-year history of the programme.
The Saltire Scholar Programme offers fully funded internship opportunities with leading organisations to penultimate year undergraduate students from Scottish universities, aiming to help create the next generation of business leaders for Scotland.
The programme launched in 2007 with just six participants; this year’s 1,242 applicants will be competing for 185 internships.
Entrepreneurial Scotland is a partner along with SFC, Highlands and Islands Enterprise, Scottish Enterprise and the Scottish Government in the Scotland CAN DO Scale international entrepreneurial education programme.
Sara Nelson, Head of Saltire Scholar Internship programme, said: “That a record number of students from Scottish universities identify this as an aspirational experience is a boost for our mission to see Scotland become the most entrepreneurial society in the world.”
