Sharpshooter proves she’s a Winning Student

Seonaid McIntosh, Team Scotland shooter supported by an SFC-funded Winning Students scholarship, won two medals at the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games.

Heriot-Watt University Electrical Engineering student Seonaid bagged bronze in the Women's 50m Rifle Prone and Women's 50m Rifle 3 Positions.

Seonaid beat her older sister, Jennifer, to win her medals. Shooting is in their blood as both parents are former Commonwealth Games shooters – with mum Shirley winning four medals.

Seonaid McIntoshSeonaid is one of 150 students supported by Winning Students, which supports talented student athletes with the academic flexibility required to perform at the highest level in sport and studies.

There were 29 current and 37 former Winning Students on Team Scotland at the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games.

Other Winning Students contributing to Team Scotland’s medal haul include Duncan Scott, who won six medals for swimming, Kirsty Gilmour, who won bronze in the badminton women’s singles, and former Winning Students scholars Ross Murdoch and Hannah Miley, who both won silver medals in swimming.
