Flexible Workforce Development Fund 2017-18
Issue Date: 07/09/2017
Deadline Date: 28/02/2018
To provide details of the new Flexible Workforce Development Fund and funding allocations to each Regional College and Regional Strategic Body.
Important Update on Flexible Workforce Development fund (FWDF)
SFC emailed on 15 March 2018 to advise colleges that “all FWDF training should be contractually committed by the end of June 2018, although training can continue beyond that date (up to the end of September), and be fully reflected within colleges’ final FES returns”. This date was set to enable SFC to meet our financial obligations to reconcile and report spend against the AY 2017-18 allocation. Since sending this email we have had feedback from the sector that not all training committed before the end of June will be completed by the end of September 2018.
SFC has listened to the concerns of the sector and in order to continue the momentum of the FWDF and maintain relationships with employers we are prepared to provide some further flexibility.
We are now advising that all FWDF training associated with the AY 2017-18 programme, contractually committed by the end of June, must start before the end of September 2018.
As set out in our Indicative Outcome Agreement funding announcement SFC/AN/06/2018 there will be a continuation of this programme in AY 2018-19. An independent evaluation of the pilot year is underway and the outcomes of the evaluation will inform the operation and guidance for next year.
Training committed after the end of June 2018 will be funded from the AY 2018-19 allocation.
