Strategic Research Development Grant
The Strategic Research Development Grant (SRDG) was introduced in 2002 to enable Scotland's Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) and their partners to accelerate significant strategic investments in research infrastructure. Since AY 2009-10 it has been incorporated into the Horizon Fund for Universities.
There is more detail available on our list of current and previous strategic research investments [PDF] including research pools.
Some examples of previous strategic research investments can be seen below:
- Alliance for Self Care Research: part of an investment into Nursing, Midwifery and Allied Health Professions;
- Scottish Institute for Policing Research; and
- Living Links.
We are co-funding two Language-Based Area Studies (LBAS) Centres. The LBAS Centres are intended to increase capacity in both linguistic knowledge and knowledge of the geographical area of the following spheres:
- The Arab World: an Edinburgh consortium with Durham and Manchester; and
- Centre for Russian, Central and East European Studies: a Glasgow consortium with Aberdeen, Edinburgh, Newcastle, Nottingham, West of Scotland and Strathclyde.
