Statistical Advisory Group for Further Education (SAGE) -
Committee remit and membership
Remit
To advise the Council on the statistical information about colleges that the Council may need to carry out its function and in particular to:
- measure activity levels over time;
- measure the profile of the student population over time;
- measure college resources;
- inform policy developments;
- measure performance against policy objectives;
- inform funding allocations;
- inform student support expenditure; and
- derive performance indicators.
In doing this, account will be taken of the statistical information needs of the Scottish Executive, Scotland’s colleges and other relevant stakeholders. In considering statistical collections the group will take account of the burden on the providers and the benefits to the users.
The group should provide advice and comment to the Council on the development of new performance indicators and new methods for statistical aspects of funding calculations.
The group will also be asked to provide advice on SFC and Scottish Executive statistical publications and other publications relevant to the sector. The group should also identify the need for statistical publications to aid the sector.
In addition the group will be asked to provide inputs to cross sectoral statistical matters and statistical consultations.
