Financial performance indicators
Introduction
In 2002, the Scottish Funding Council set up a short term working group to review and develop a range of financial performance indicators. Financial performance indicators for 2000-01 and 2001-02 were published for the first time in 2003, with circular letter FE/23/03 (SFC archive).
As a result of feedback from the sector and further consideration, the presentation of the indicators was changed in 2004 to improve readability and the opportunity was taken to include unit costs, which were previously reported separately.
The indicators have been reported both at sector level and in four sub-sector groupings. To assist colleges in developing other appropriate groupings for benchmarking purposes, data for the exercise is provided in downloadable format below.
