Policy/Analysis Officer (Skills)

Salary in the range: £27,156 - £34,224 (2016-17 pay range)

Maternity Cover – approx. 8 months.

This post will support the development and implementation of the Council’s policies on Skills and support the work of our outcome agreement teams.

Working closely with colleagues the post-holder will be involved in the collection and analysis of data to support the development of SFC policies in Skills and also the work of our outcome agreement teams. The post-holder will provide advice and guidance to both internal and external stakeholders and, as required, represent SFC on relevant sector skill groups. In addition they will assist in drafting papers and reports, including draft committee and board papers, for senior management to review.

Skills and experience

Applicants should have experience of policy development and / or data analysis. They should be effective communicators, both orally and in writing, with the capacity to understand and explain complex issues and build and develop working relationships with stakeholders. They should have effective organisational abilities. The ideal candidate will be educated to degree-level (SCQF level 9), or hold equivalent experience, together with knowledge of skills and employability issues. An awareness of further and higher education matters in Scotland would also be desirable.
