The Scottish Funding Council’s annual College Statistics Report provides a detailed national picture of the people that colleges in Scotland serve.

This year’s report covers the academic year 2016-17 and shows that colleges provided teaching and training for over 230,000 people. It also points to an increase in the numbers of disabled students and students from minority ethnic backgrounds.

John Kemp, Interim Chief Executive of the Scottish Funding Council, said: “What we see is a dynamic sector that in 2016-17 improved the life chances of over 230,000 people. It has done so inclusively, continuing to serve our deprived areas and, in the last ten years, increasing the proportion of activity delivered to students with disabilities and students from minority ethnic backgrounds”
