Professor Julian Jones Register of Interests

The Register of Interests provides information of any financial interest or other material benefit that a Board or Committee member receives which might reasonably be thought by others to influence his or her actions.

1. Remuneration

I am employed at Heriot-Watt University as Senior Deputy Principal.

 

I receive consultancy payments for my work for the Scottish Science Advisory Council and occasionally for work for the Ministry of Defence Science and Technology Advisory Group and the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council.

2. Other roles

I am a non-Executive Director of OptoSci Ltd and have share ownership, but the company has not been active in recent years.

7. Non-financial interests

I undertake voluntary roles including:

1. Institute of Physics, including as Chair of the Benevolent Fund and as the Employer-nominated Trustee for the pension scheme.
2. Royal Society of Edinburgh, including as Chair of the Diversity and Skills Panel.

I am a Fellow of Optica, and a Member of the British Astronomical Association.

 

I am Honorary Consul General for Norway in Edinburgh.

My wife, Professor Anita Jones, is a Professor of Chemistry at the University of Edinburgh.
