National Student Survey 2024: Publication of Data
Summary
- The National Student Survey (NSS) is managed by the Office for Students (OfS) on behalf of the UK funding and regulatory bodies for higher education – the Scottish Funding Council (SFC), the Department for the Economy (Northern Ireland), and the Higher Education Funding Council for Wales (HEFCW). The survey provides information for prospective students and for stakeholders to support a high-quality learning experience.
- The survey is delivered on behalf of the UK funding and regulatory bodies by:
- Ipsos, which is administering the survey.
- Texuna Technologies, which will deliver the NSS results portal for institutions.
- The publication provides information on the publication of the 2024 NSS results.
Publication of the 2024 NSS data
- The UK funding and regulatory bodies have agreed to publish the NSS 2024 public data on Wednesday 10 July 2024 at 09:30 on the OfS website.
- Institutions will be able to access their own detailed NSS results, including subject-level question responses and open text comments, through the NSS Results Portal at 09:30 on Wednesday 10 July 2024.
- The results on the healthcare practice placement questions will be published as part of the NSS 2024 data on the OfS website. Providers will also be able to receive their own responses to these questions through the NSS Results Portal at 09:30 on Wednesday 10 July 2024.
- Publication and dissemination of the NSS 2024 results depends on final agreement from the UK funding and regulatory bodies following the quality review of the data.
- The OfS applies the Code of Practice for Statistics to the publication of NSS results data. More information about the Code of Practice can be found on the OfS website.
NSS data dissemination portal
- Further technical information on the NSS Results Portal release will be made available in the Portal newsletter. This will be issued by Texuna to all active NSS contacts on the Portal in June 2024.
- Texuna will be in touch with existing active institutional contacts in June 2024 to request that contact details are confirmed or updated as appropriate. Ensuring that these details are up to date will help providers access the portal for the NSS 2024 data quickly and easily.
- From time to time, the underlying dataset for the portal may be subject to minor changes and amended during the year. However, the static reports available through the portal will not be updated for minor changes. Static reports should therefore be understood as capturing a snapshot of the data, correct at the time of publication.
