Their work is closely aligned to student wellbeing and helps to quality assure a vibrant system of student run activities, as outlined in Section 4. Active health and sport contribute significantly to a healthy student experience and can harness the following powers to the benefit of students, institutions, and communities:

- The power to enhance learning, development & employability.
- The power to actively address inequalities & promote a positive culture.
SFC provides strategic funding for SSS to deliver:
- Bespoke education, training and consultancy to staff and students at member colleges and universities.
- Active health opportunities that engage a far greater number of students through promoting physical, mental and social health.
- Hundreds of learning and volunteering opportunities in areas such representation, coaching, officiating, leadership and event delivery.
- Additional support to colleges to improve the student experience through active health and sport.
- Qualitative improvement to sports club culture with projects focussing on inclusion, equalities, safety and charitable activity.
- A vibrant calendar of student sports competition across a wide range of activities and levels.
